MAYBE YOUR SOUL ISN'T SAD, IT'S JUST BORED

((and your life has been trying to break through)
Let me ask you something.
Do you have a fixed mindset? This is who I am. This is my lot in life. I can’t change my life. It is what it is.
OR...
Do you have a growth mindset? It’s time to make a change. What mindset is holding me back, and what can I do about it? I’m unhappy. I’m bored. Maybe I need to try something new.
You don’t need to burn the house down to grow and add some spice to your life, but I will tell you this: a human being’s need to grow is fundamental.
Growth and change make us feel alive and full of zest. (I love this word!)
When you don’t grow, when you stay fixed in the same roles, same fears, same routines and same old version of yourself, it can show up as irritability, sadness, envy, numbness or simply feeling trapped.
Too often, we misinterpret those feelings as hopelessness or as evidence that something is wrong with us.
So. Not. True.
Maybe your soul and spirit are simply dying for you to do something about it.
Okay. Imagine a slab of concrete as your fixed mindset. Underneath that concrete are seeds, the flowers and grass representing your growth.
The concrete says, Stay where you are.
But as you’ve probably noticed, seeds don’t care. Those tiny flowers and blades of grass, as delicate as they are, will push their way through and eventually crack that concrete open.
Growth wants to happen.
And if you keep ignoring that need, it will niggle at you.
So how do you make the hopelessness, sadness, boredom or anxiety disappear when you’re living fixed?
Maybe you stop ignoring the flowers pushing through the concrete.
After all, darling, they are for you.
Today, pick yourself up and get growing. Do something alone. Volunteer. Take dancing lessons. Join an exercise class. Learn something new—IN PERSON. Meet someone. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Take a class. Try something you're absolutely terrible at. Get curious again.
Remember the saying, change your mind, change your life?
Yes. You. Can.
And maybe that little crack appearing in the concrete isn't your life falling apart at all.
Maybe it's something new trying to bloom.
